With joeys departure from slipknot a month ago he stated ‘personal reasons’ had gotten in the way of him and the band however releasing a statement via his face book today he claims ‘I DID NOT QUIT SLIPKNOT’.

Without saying if he was or wasn’t fired he does explain that he was ‘blindsided’ by the news and that he was just as shocked as everyone else. Although both JJ and Corey Taylor have spoken out neither are giving clear details at this time and both have said they must remain silent for the time being.

The statement from Joeys face book is as follows:

To my fans, friends, and associates...

I would like to start the New Year by addressing the recent rumors and speculation regarding my departure from Slipknot. I want to make it very clear that I DID NOT QUIT SLIPKNOT. This band has been my life for the last 18 years, and I would never abandon it, or my fans. This news has shocked and blindsided me as much as it has all of you. While there is much I would like to say, I must remain silent to further details at this time. I would like to thank you all for your unwavering love and support, and wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year.

It’s still confusing as to why one of the co founders would be leaving before the release of their first album since the death of bassist Paul Gray, but more answers are bound to open up soon.
