The Asylum Venue is proud as punch to have listened to continual pleading begging and bribery from Fear Me! Music - to now host a brand new FREE ENTRY!! and band less rock/metal club and pub orientated night for Birmingham's metal community.
This new night will be entitled PAINKILLER as a tribute to our local heroes and worldwide heavy metal pioneers JUDAS PRIEST!!!
Everything metal, to do with anything Birmingham - is always a nod to Black Sabbath.....Who are incredible....But we thought 'No!' this night - is going to be in honour of Rob Halford and Judas Priest!!!!
So, Friday 1st July 2016 will be the second PAINKILLER night - with a view to holding on a regular well planned basis - so we all have somewhere to go, and we known in advance when PAINKILLER is on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The whole ethos of PAINKILLER is to mix the best elements of the Old Edwards No 8 (88/92) The Foundry, Pen & Wig, late 80s / very early 90's Costermongers - with a touch of what went on at The Mermaid / Synatra's / City Tavern.

Well, exactly what you want to hear!!! Were going to include a lot of what we think is the best stuff, old real metal, US HC, proper death metal, the better side of what is now termed 'classic rock', were going to play proper early 90's alternative...... But we want you to comment on this event what songs you would like to hear!!!
Where else can you go where you can listen to Cro Mags? followed by Eyehategod? and then some Stooges or New York Dolls.... No crap here - just diverse but cool as hell sounds....
The music will NOT be blaring too loud either - we want you goodly folks to be able talk and have a laugh with ease - we want to see people dancing and havin fun!!!
We will be introducing DJ's into this night too!!! Not just IPOD playlists...
DJ Drunken Bloomin' Wilkins is coming out of retirement to do a DJ slot!! Without being moaned at or slagged off....
DJ Jason Bloody Charlesworth is coming out of retirement!! Jase is a top guy, and used to get you boogying at The Gallows before Eddies!!! What a total doss!!
...and last but not least DJ 'Dossy' Vance will be doing a stint on the wheels of steel too!!
All playing varying styles of the best bloody music in the world!!!
THERE WILL BE A TOTOAL WIPEOUT OLD SCHOOL THRASH METAL HALF HOUR DURING THE NIGHT TOO - THIS GOT FISTS A PUMPIN' LAST TIME.....
FREE ENTRY!!! Doors open to you goodly folks at 7pm sharp, and close / kick out at 12am - but we are gunning for a 1am extension for this one!!!!!!!
The venue will be tipping off it's local and trusted taxi service - as it does weekly for UPRAWR next door. So peeps can get home!!!!
So, people have been moaning there is no where to go - well, there is now - PAINKILLER at The Asylum 2!!
Use it, or lose it. It'syour scene - and to make this work, we have to support it. Once a month is the recommendation of management, so we need to see how this is supported and received!!
